You gotta check this out!!
The Challenge: You’ve been seeing a lot of new trends popping up in the world of scrapbooking for 2008. We, at ScrapScene, have also been posting a lot about them recently. (You can see some links in the “Inspiration” section below.) For this contest, we are challenging you to create a scrapbooking or paper crafting project that reflects one or more of these trends. Some ideas you can select from are mentioned below, or perhaps there is another trend that we didn’t mention. You can make a scrapbook layout, a mini book, an altered item, or whatever else you decide. This contest is pretty wide open, so show us what you can do. The project does not have to be brand new, you can submit an entry that you have made earlier, no problem. Entries will be judged on overall appeal as well as creativity. One grand prize will be awarded as well as five runner up prizes. Let’s see what you can come up with!
Go to Scrap Scene for more details!

March 29 & March 30
Ta Da . . .
As promised, here's the list of classes with cost for each class forLinda Cain's and Wendy Vecchi's classes
Saturday, March 29:
Wendy's Distress Ink Technique Class
10 am - 1 pm
$35
Love the Distress Inks but want to learn more ways to use them? Wendy's back from Ranger University and ready to share lots of the techniques she learned. Follow the same format as she did at Ranger U. You'll then do the same technique on a manilla tag. Ink, distress, crackle, emboss . . . then put them all together on a ring and each will be labeled - so note taking not required!
Linda's Framed Row Houses
2 pm - 5 pm
$45
Join artist Linda Cain and create a project you will be proud to hang on your wall or give as a gift. This class has over 40 elements to glue, distress, add pen designs to and more! And, of course, there is a bit of stamping and distressing. Don't forget to bring a small picture to put in the bottle cap. Many have used vintage pictures of their mom, a small child or themselves. You will leave with a completely finished 8x10 framed work of art that will put a smile on your face.
Sunday, March 30
Linda's 7 Gypsies Fragments Book Class
10 am - 12 Noon
$35
Want to use some of those favorite little pieces of paper you just couldn’t bear to throw away after a project? Well here is the class for you! Bring them along with your Distress Inks and pads, and Linda will show you how to make a great little book. The spine is covered with ribbons, chipboard, beads, wooden letters and more! If you don’t like to stamp, many papers alone are great for adding to the Fragments! Linda will bring along some stamped paper pieces for each person to have a couple to start with.
Bring a black ink pad, scissors, Glossy Accents, Distress Inks and pads. If you have favorite collage stamps, they really work well!
Wendy's Goin' For The Grunge
1 pm - 3:30 pm
$35
Here's a fun, totally different class using the coolest product - Grungeboard! Combine grungeboard, stamps, distress inks, wire & glass to create a very cool dimensional bud vase. It's perfect for those spring flowers that should be popping up soon. This is one of the projects Wendy made for Maya Road! Once you make one, you'll want to make more for a quick gift or you may want to display several in a grouping in your home. This grungeboard idea is also perfect for cards, so we'll make a grungeboard card too! A card and a vase . . . a great gift idea. The Grunge-abilities are endless!Call For Keeps Sake @ 314-487-8131
Photos of all the projects are up on the FKS blog!! Plus Linda Cain has something special up on her blog go see here!

We now have Call Notes - so - if you call and we're on the other line, the phone fairy prompts you to please call back in a few minutes - or you may leave a message and we'll get back to you. Something to share . . .
for posting this again . . .
handle, when 24 Hours in a day is not enough,
remember the mayonnaise jar and 2 cups of coffee.
A professor stood before his philosophy class
and had some items in front of him. When the
class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very
large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded
to fill it with golf balls.
He then asked the students if the jar was full.
They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles
and poured them into the jar.
He shook the jar lightly.
The pebbles rolled into the open areas
between the golf balls.
He then asked the students again if the jar was full.
They agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of
sand and poured it into the jar.
Of course, the sand filled up everything else.
He asked once more if the jar was full.
The students responded with an unanimous "yes."
The professor then produced two cups of coffee
from under the table and poured the entire
contents into the jar, effectively filling the
Empty space between the sand.
The students laughed.
"Now," said the professor, as the laughter subsided,
"I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.
The golf balls are the important things -
God, family, children, health, friends, and favorite passions --
things that if everything else was lost and only they remained,
your life would still be full.
The pebbles are the other things that
matter like your job, house, and car.
The sand is everything else --the small stuff.
"If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued,
"there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls.
The same goes for life.
If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff,
you will never have room for the things that are important to you.
So...
Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.
Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups.
Play another 18.
There will always be time to clean the
house and fix the disposal.
"Take care of the golf balls first --the things
that really matter. Set your priorities.
The rest is just sand."
One of the students raised her hand and
inquired what the coffee represented.
The professor smiled.
"I'm glad you asked".
It just goes to show you that no matter how full
your life may seem, there's always room for a
couple of cups of coffee with a friend."

SCRAP ST Louis UPDATE
SCRAP ST Louis UPDATE from the For Keeps Sake BLOG As promised, we keep adding exciting opportunities to Scrap St. Louis (June 5-7, 2008). Some of you have indicated you'd love to see the projects you'll be creating. We can't show you yet because:
they're still in the works!
When we signed up our guest instructors (Lance Anderson - Rusty Pickle; Heidi Grace - Fiskars, Heidi Grace Designs; Tracey Niehues - K&Company; Danelle Johnson - Creative Imaginations; Joey Otlo - Bazzill; Missy Jaycox - 7 Gypsies), they promised to use the very newest product from the companies they represent and to do something that was a project - no pages. We want you to walk away with something absolutely amazing from each class - a WOW project.
With that in mind, all the companies represented above are coming out with their newest products in February 2008 - so everything is still a BIG SECRET and UNDER WRAPS. Once the buyers' shows are complete, they'll work on their projects and we'll be happy to give you sneak peeks.
In the meantime, what we can disclose is that Pink Paisley (a brand new paper company) has signed on with Scrap St. Louis. What does this mean for you?
- in between classes
- at lunch break
- during your day time break
you may complete a make-and-take with the companies represented in the break room. In addition to locally owned stores like Ink Spot, Making Memories, Rock Paper Scissors and Scrapbook Factory, they'll be representatives from scrapbook manufacturers helping you to create make-and-takes with their latest products.
One more thing you've begged for . . .
you may now make payments for Scrap St. Louis.
Should you choose to make payments, your payments must be made by phone or in person @ For Keeps Sake Scrapbook (314) 487-8131. Minimum payment is $50 per person and may be made by cash, check or on your major credit card. Incremental payments may not be made on-line.
