Today's photo is part of project in progress. . . about half done I'd say . . . this week I'm hoping to wrap up about 5 unfinished projects including this one!

Stay tuned . . .

Photo of the day for 2/27

I realized today that about half my photos are of food.  LOL.  And about half of those are restaurant reviews!  Today we wanted to try a "new to us" BBQ place located in St. Peters, MO.  It's called Lil Mickey's BBQ and was recommended by a several different people so the 3 of us (of course we had to swing by and pick up Adam on the way) headed out.

Lil' Mickey's Memphis Barbeque  6716 Mexico Road St. Peters, Missouri 63376

I got a pulled pork sandwich and baked beans.  The sandwich was enormous and is served with the cole slaw on the bun (just the way I like it).   There are only a couple of small tables here and they were occupied so we ended up taking our food back to Adam's to eat.

We also brought home the beef brisket to enjoy later this week!  We definitely will be going back to try the chicken and maybe the ribs!

Photo of the day 2/26

Well it certainly was a lovely gray, cold day here in St. Lou . . . we hit a few estate sales, ate lunch @ GC Brewery and stopped in Kohl's to pick up a couple of things for Adam.  Not too exciting but the Kohl's on Olive now has greeters, just like WalMart.   Well, not "just" like WalMart but they did greet us @ the door!

Photo of the Day!

New papers from Echo Park landed @ For Keeps Sake and I had to make a sample.  Sometimes I have to work hard like that!  Anyway, these papers and sticker embellishments are from "On the Record".  You're probably going to have to have it!

Me & Adam Circa 1986 {late November to be exact} just about a week before Zack was born.  I think that's why I look so thrilled.

Thanks Mary June!  It always makes my day when you stop in to share!

As the Mom of a soldier currently deployed I am a member of a number of Military Mom support groups.  Sometimes we hear about a soldier that doesn't get mail or care packages or a soldier that is sick or injured.  This is a card for a soldier @ Walter Reed Hospital that lost both legs in Afghanistan.  It's a small thing I can do for a soldier that gave so much.  Hooah!

Another fabulous day in St. Louis, a girl could get used to this even though I know it can't last!  Today was a GROUPON day.  We headed out to Lafayette Square to eat lunch at a neat little place called Rue Lafayette.

On our way, we checked out a shop called TROVA { a treasure trove of fabulous finds }, lots of cool things to look at in this shop {handmade jewelry, gift items, pottery}.

We  took a stroll through Lafayette Park . . .

Then made our way to Rue Lafayette. . . the groupon made this cute little shop/restaurant busy probably busier than normal.

We ordered the Ham & Cheese Croissant Melt and I had the Onion Soup.  It was the best croissant I'd ever eaten and the Onion Soup was just wonderful.  It was a short wait before we got our food but we enjoyed the antique store & boutique while we waited.

{yeah I didn't take this head chopped off picture}

Great day, fun place . . . can't wait to visit this place in the summer.

It's February but you wouldn't know it by the weather!  After last week's deep freeze we are seriously thinking about Spring with the high near 80 degrees today!  It was a great day to go for a walk, the neighborhood kids were out playing and the neighbors fired up the grill just like it was April or May.    The "boys" loved the warm weather too!

They have been stationed by the open window practically all day . . .

Yesterday's recipe book is today's dinner . . .

Home Style Pork Stew chosen because I could make it without going to the grocery store.

I did have to make a substitution for the "seasoned gravy for pork" whatever that is {I just used a can of cream of chicken soup and the pan drippings from the pork} and didn't have any rosemary but it turned out wonderful and I would definitely make it again!

Plus, hubby loved it so it's a keeper . . .

Mondays & Tuesdays I always work @ For Keeps Sake.  Since my darling husband gets home well be for me he always fixes supper so I always have it waiting for me when I get home.  Gotta love that.  Wednesday is almost always my day off so it's my turn to cook.   I love love love my crockpot!  There is something a little bit magical about putting a bunch of ingredients in the pot in the morning and coming home to a delicious meal.  Tomorrow's a crock pot day because I got some running around to do.

Photo of the day . . . 2/14/2011

Valentine's Day is a sentimental anniversary for me & my sweetie.  Our very first date was February 14, 1974.  I was 17, he was 18 and he picked me up in his VW bug and took me to a very nice Asian Restaurant called "The Oriental" in Charlotte, NC.

Every Valentine's Day since we have Chinese Food.  Some years we had take out, sometimes I made fried rice but we always try to maintain our little tradition.

Yup, this is us in 1974 . . .

Tonight we went out to "The Orient" here in Oakville.  It was super busy and I didn't bring my camera but I took a pic with my phone.  No it's not the 2 of us, that would have been clever but I didn't think of it.  I did however take a picture of my food.

Hope your Valentine's Day was special . . .

Today's photos for February 12, 2011

Wow, what a gorgeous day we had here in St. Louis!  It was so nice to see some of the snow piles melting and the brilliant sunshine!  Today we took a scenic drive to celebrate not having a blizzard to Augusta, MO.

In the spring, summer and fall this little town in packed with  people using the Katy Trail, visiting all the great wineries and Bed & breakfasts in the area.

We stopped at this great shop Stone Ledge Antiques.

It was pretty quiet today so we continued on to Washington, MO to get a view of the river, do some shopping and to grab lunch @ Cowan's Restaurant in downtown Washington.

What a great day to be out and about!  Tomorrow is supposed to be even warmer-LET THE MELTING CONTINUE!

What happened to yesterday's picture?  I dunno.  I forgot to take one early then I took a pic with my cell phone and it was lousy so I skipped yesterday.  Today's photos are just projects, nothing finished but works in progress . . .

Tomorrow's supposed to be a nicer day, a little warmer and maybe some of this snow will melt.  Maybe I can take an "outside" photo!

Today photo of the day for 2/09/2011

It's snowing again here in St. Louis, yuck. . . soldier son is on his way back "over there" and I'm still feeling a little "blue" with our boy gone.  I decided a little retail therapy was in order to get me out of my bad mood.  It's been awhile since I hit the antique mall and it's been calling my name lately so I headed over and spent a couple of hours grazing.  I found a few things and took a photo of some of them:

Hazel Atlas Ovide Yellow Gold Platter $4

A pair of "Handmade in France" crocheted gloves {love the little pearl buttons} $3

Embroidered Dresser Scarf  $4

Taking my mind of my troubles . . . PRICELESS

Today's photo . . . well it's been "one of those days".  So instead of sharing the boring details I'll share a card instead.  I'm busy kitting my class for tomorrow but I needed to make a "Sympathy" card for a friend.  It's made with Basic Grey Curio (one of my fav all time paper lines).  Night everyone.  Tomorrow is another day!

Saying Goodbye again:

A little bit of a gray and depressing day.  I didn't cry until after the picture, he started to tear up so I had to hold it together a little longer!

We got a few extra hours with him today...1st flight was canceled.  He was a little nervous about making his connecting flight out of Atlanta.  No worries though, he just called and he missed his flight overseas and will be in Atlanta for 2 days.  He's happy but I kinda wish he could have stayed here!

My Class this week. . .

Photo of the Day for 2/5

I didn't get a photo yesterday . . . a lot going on and I just didn't do it.   Today's photos are weather related {of course}.   The weatherman predicted a dusting and of course we got 4-5inches.  I really am tired of this white stuff but it did make some pretty scenery this a.m.

I have one more photo to share . . . tomorrow we say goodbye to soldier son again.  I hate this, 15 days came and went in a heartbeat and now he's going back, over there . . . we will miss him so much!
