"Never Forget"

FOREST PARK (KTVI-FOX2now.com)—
In honor of the nearly 3,000 people who died ten years ago Sunday, a tribute unlike anything St. Louis has ever seen has been set up on Art Hill in Forest Park. A display titled "America's Heartland Remembers" features 2,996 flags in perfect symmetry, a flag for each person who died in the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. Each flag features information about a victim. It took 300 volunteers, including city firefighters, to put up the display. Rick Randall came up with the St. Louis idea. The design was actually copied from a display at Pepperdine University a few years ago, but putting the names on each flag pole is unique to St. Louis.
